Beefsteak in Curry Sauce Ga lei se dik 2 cups sliced steak, about 1 Lb 1 cup onions, sliced and separated into rings 1 clove garlic, minced 2 slices ginger, shredded 1 tsp. sugar 1 tsp. MSG 2 Tbsp light soy sauce 1 Tbsp cornstarch 1 Tbsp curry powder 1/2 cup chicken stock or water 4 Tbsp oil 1/8 tsp. salt Mix the first sugar, MSG, soy sauce and 1 Tbsp oil as a marinade. Marinade the sliced beef for about 30 minutes (more is OK) before cooking. Mix the remaining cornstarch, curry powder and chicken stock and put aside. Drain beef and combine marinade with curry mixture. Heat wok hot and dry. Add 1 1/2 Tbsp. Put in salt, garlic, and ginger and stir fry till brown. Put in beef and brown quickly.
Remove at once to a bowl and set aside. Clean wok. Heat hot and dry again. Add remainder of oil and fry onion rings until golden brown. Stir in curry mixture and heat until thickened. Put beef back in and mix thoroughly. Serve with rice or as is.
