Brazilian Pasteles Serves: 4 people 3/4 cup flour 4 tablespoons butter 2 tablespoons lard 1 3/4 tablespoons water 1/2 tsp salt Put flour into a bowl and cut in butter and lard until the mixture resembles coarse meal. Add three fourths of the water and the salt. Mix to form a soft dough, adding more water if needed. Form into a flat cake and wrap in plastic. Chill at least 20 minutes. Roll dough out to 1/16 inch thickness. Cut into circles. Spoon desired filling onto dough circles, fold to form half-moon shapes. Bake at 400 for about 20 minutes.
Pasteles can be filled with roasted vegetables, meats, or fruits.
