Date Nut Bread - Whole Wheat

2 cups whole wheat pastry flour
2 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon nutmeg
1/4 cup butter
1/3 cup maple syrup
2 eggs
2 teaspoon vanilla
1/2 cup milk
1 cup chopped dates
1/2 cup walnuts (or other nuts) chopped

Sift together flour, baking powder and nutmeg; set aside. Cream
butter with maple syrup; add eggs, vanilla, and milk. Stir in flour
mixture. Fold in dates and nuts. Pour mixture into lightly buttered
9 x 5-inch loaf pan. Bake at 325 degrees for 1 1/4 hours or until
top splits or toothpick comes out clean.
