Buttermilk biscuits
2 cups flour 1 teaspoon salt 1 tablespoon of baking powder 1/4 cup solid shortening or butter buttermilk
Sift flour, salt and baking powder. Cut in butter. Mix in the buttermilk until the consistency is right. (less than a 1/4 cup usually) The dough should hold its form, but not be sticky. If sticky, add more flour. Roll out and cut with a biscuit cutter. Place on an ungreased baking sheet. The buscuits should touch if you want tall fluffy ones or space evenly for flat biscuits. Bake at 375 for about 10-20 min.
