Monkey Bread Yield: 12 servings
1 1/2 cakes compressed yeast 1 c scalded milk, cooled 4 tb sugar 1 ts salt 1/2 c butter, melted 3 1/2 c flour, sifted
brown sugar cinnamon
In large bowl, place yeast and lukewarm milk. When yeast is dissolved, stir in sugar, salt and melted butter. Add flour and beat well. Cover.
Let dough rise to almost double - about 1 hour. Punch down and roll out on lightly floured board to 1/4 inch thickness. Cut into cut into 2.5" long diamond shaped pieces. Dip each piece in melted butter and arrange in 9" ring mold until ring is half full. (If you use sugar and cinnamon, sprinkle it on each layer.) Let dough rise again until doubled. Bake in preheated 400 degree oven for 30 minutes, or until browned.
