Clover Rolls

2 cups sifted all-purpose flour
1/4 cup sugar
3/4 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/3 cup vegetable shortening
1/2 cup milk
3 tablespoons lemon juice

Sift together flour, sugar, baking soda and salt into large bowl.
Cut in shortening until mixture resembles coarse meal. Combine milk
and lemon juice. Quickly stir into flour mixture to form a soft
dough. Turn onto lightly floured board. Knead slightly. Form into
small balls about the size of marbles. Put three balls into each
greased muffin cup (about 2 1/4-inch diameter). Bake in 450 degree
oven 15 minutes or until lightly browned. Makes about 1 dozen rolls.
