Salt Rising Bread

1/3 cup scalded, cooled milk 2 tablespoons cornmeal
1 C scalded milk 1/2 tsp salt 2 Tbl molasses 3 Tbl oil 1 cup whole wheat flour 2 1/2 cups white flour
Mix together milk and cornmeal. Let stand, covered, in a warm place for 24 hours. It should be bubbly.
Stir together milk, salt. molasses, oil and flour. Add corn meal mixture. Stir in enough white flour to knead, about 2 1/2 C. Knead about 5 minutes.
Form one loaf and grease the top. Place in a greased loaf pan. cover, let rise until double. Time required will vary. Bake at 375 deg for about 35 min.
