White Bread
1 tb yeast 2 c water 1 1/2 tbsp white sugar 1 tb salt 1 tb melted margarine about 6 cups flour
Dissolve yeast in 1/2 cup lukewarm water. In remaining liquid, dissolve sugar and salt,then add yeast mixture. Mix in enough flour to make a soft batter. Add margarine and mix well. Mix in more flour to produce a dough soft enough to handle but not sticky. Turn out on floured surface and knead until soft and elastic. Divide dough into 2 pieces and let stand a few minutes. Shape into loaves and place in greased bread pans. Cover with a tea towel and let rise till doubled in size. Bake in 350F oven for 35 to 60 minutes, depending on size of loaves. Let cool a little before cutting.
Makes 2 loaves.
