FRENCH TOAST

1 cup flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 egg
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon maple syrup
1 cup sweet milk

Sift dry ingredients together, add all the liquid ingredients and
stir until blended. Dip slices of dry bread (crusts trimmed) into
batter and fry in deep fat (370 degrees). Batter may be thicker
than desired, if so, thin with milk until it is the right consistency.
