French Toast

6 slices bread, 1 inch thick
2 large eggs
1 tablespoon orange zest
1/2 orange, squeezed for juice
1/3 cup half and half
1 tablespoon Grand Marnier
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
1 teaspoon cinnamon
dash salt
butter

fresh berries
chopped pecans
pure maple syrup
powdered sugar

Get thick slices of bread, whisk eggs on low, add rest of
ingredients-not butter or toppings. Heat a Lg. skillet till hot,
coat with butter generously, don't butter pan till it is hot or
the toast will stick. Dip bread into egg mixture and let it soak
up for a few minutes. Place in skillet and cook till golden brown
on each side. Best right off the grill, but can be kept warm in
oven.

Pour small puddle of syrup in plate, stack two slices-one against
the other. Sprinkle with powdered sugar, then top with nuts, cut
berries, sprinkle berries around on plate too. Garnish with fresh
orange slices, strawberries with stem-sliced in half, or your
favorites!
