Shrimp and Chicken Gumbo

3 tablespoons oil
1/4 cup flour
2 small onions, chopped
1/2 cup celery, chopped
1 lg bell pepper, chopped
minced garlic
3 cups chicken broth
16 oz.can whole tomatoes in juice (undrained)
10 oz pkg frozen sliced okra
bay leaf
1/2 tsp tabasco
3/4 lb shredded cooked chicken
1/2 lb shrimp
hot cooked rice

Heat oil in large saucepan or Dutch oven. Add flour and cook over
low heat till browned, stirring often. Add onions, celery, pepper
and garlic. Cook 5 minutes. Add broth, tomatoes with juice, okra,
bay leaf, and tabasco. Bring to a boil. Lower heat, add chicken
and shrimp, and cook 3-5 minutes. Remove bay leaf and serve over
rice.
