Cherry Fudge Cake

(18.25 oz.) package devils food cake mix with pudding
21 oz can cherry pie filling
2 large eggs
1 teaspoon almond or vanilla extract
1 cup sugar
1/3 cup butter or margarine
1/3 cup milk
1 cup (6 oz. semisweet chocolate morsels)

Combine first 4 ingredients in a bowl until blended. Pour into a
greased and sugared 13 X 9 inch pan. (This batter will resemble
brownie batter.) Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes or until a
wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool in pan on a
wire rack.

Combine sugar, butter and milk in a small saucepan. Bring to a
boil, stirring constantly; reduce heat, and simmer , stirring
constantly, 1 minute. Remove from heat; stir in chocolate morsels
until blended. Pour over cooled cake, and let stand until set.

Yield: 12-15 servings
