Devil's Food Cake
2 1/2 cups self raising flour
3/4 teaspoon bicarbonate soda
5 ozs butter
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 3/4 cups castor sugar
2/3 cup cocoa
1 cup water
3 eggs
Sift dry ingredients into large bowl of electric mixer. Add softened
butter, water and vanilla. Beat medium speed for 3 minutes. Add
eggs, increase speed, beat further 3 minutes. Pour into 2 greased
deep 8" cake tins. Bake in moderate oven 35 to 40 minutes. When
cold sandwich together with whipped cream and ice.
