PASSOVER CHOCOLATE NUT TORTE
(Serves 12-16)

6 oz butter or margarine
3/4 cup sugar
7 yolks
4 oz bittersweet chocolate, melted and cooled
7 whites, beaten until stiff but not dry

4 eggs, lightly beaten
sugar
1/2 tsp potato starch
4 oz bittersweet chocolate, melted
4 oz margarine, softened
1/2 cup almonds, finely ground

Cream butter or margarine. Gradually beat in sugar until light
and creamy. Beat in egg yolks, one at a time. Blend in bittersweet
chocolate. Mix almonds and backing powder and fold in.

Fold whites into yolks. Pour into a well-greased 10" springform
pan. Bake for 30 minutes at 350F

Mix sugar eggs and potato starch in double boiler over low heat,
stirring until mixture thickens. Cool and stir in chocolate. Beat
in margarine, one tablespoon at a time. Fold in almonds until
thick enough to spread.

Frost cake with this mixture and sprinkle with almonds.
