Print this Recipe    German Suprise Chocolate Cake

2 1/4 cups flour
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp baking soda
1 1/2 cup sugar
2/3 cup shortening
3 eggs
1 1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 cup cocoa
1 cup beer
2/3 cup sauerkraut (chopped, rinsed, and drained)

Cream butter and sugar together. Add eggs one at a time. Add
beer. Add cocoa. Sift together flour, salt, and baking soda and
powder. Add to creamed mixture slowly, until all is mixed. fold
in sauerkraut. Put into a slightly greased 9 by 15 baking pan.
Bake for 30 to 45 minutes at 375 degrees F.


Icing

8 oz cream cheese softened
1/2 cup confectionery sugar
2 tbsp cream
1 tsp vanilla

Cream cream cheese. Add cream and vanilla. Add sugar slowly.
Spread over top of cake.
