BUTTERCREAM ICING 1 cup butter or margarine 1 cup granulated sugar 1 cup milk 6 heaping tablespoons flour 1 teaspoon vanilla 1 1/2 tablespoons cocoa, optional Cook milk and flour until very thick. Cool. Cream butter, sugar and cocoa (if using) until very creamy. Add milk and flour mixture and vanilla.
Beat until thick and creamy (about 4 or 5 minutes).
