Cook till thickened, stirring constantly. Cool. Cream butter and shortening thoroughly then add cooled sauce a little at a time. Then add granulated sugar a little at a time. It has a mild flavor and you can add your own favorite flavor if desired. This frosting enhances your cake by letting the flavor of the cake be the main taste you experience. I have been using it for years and it is ALWAYS a hit and always asked for. Our favorite is to put it on chocolate cake and refrigerate the cake after frosted. I would recommend everyone trying it...at least once. I'm sure it will become one of your favorites too!
