Dutch Boterkoek

1 1/3 sticks butter, room temperature
1 cup sugar
1 1/2 t almond extract
1 egg beaten
1 1/2 cup flour
1/2 t baking powder
slivered almonds

Mix all ingredients except almonds. I do the mixing with my hands.
Press into ungreased pan and brush with left over egg on top.
Sprinkle almonds on the top. Bake for 1/2 hour at 350 in the middle
of the oven.
