Nun's (Seed) Cake

1 cup butter
1 1/2 cup sugar
6 egg yolks
3 egg whites
3 1/2 cups sifted flour
powdered sugar
1 Tbsp baking powder
3/4 cup milk
1 Tbsp caraway seed
1 1/2 tsp vanilla or rosewater
1/4 tsp salt

Cream butter and sugar; beat in yolks. Stir in slightly mixed egg
whites. Beat well for 1 minute. Resift flour, salt and baking
powder 3 times. Fold into batter alternating with milk. Fold in
seeds and vanilla. Pour into a buttered and floured 9 inch tube
pan. Bake at 350 for 50-55 minutes or until toothpick comes out
clean. Cool 2-3 minutes, unmold and invert to cool on cake rack.
Serve sprinkled with powdered sugar.
