Tomato Soup Cake

2 1/4 cups cake flour
1 1/3 cups sugar
4 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. baking soda
1 1/2 tsp. allspice
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. ground cloves
1 10 oz. can condensed tomato soup
1/2 cup shortening
2 eggs
1/4 cup water

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease and flour 2 8 or 9 inch round
layer pans or a 13 x 9 oblong pan. Measure dry ingredients into
a large bowl. Add soup and shortening. Beat at low-medium speed
for about 2 minutes, scraping sides of bowl constantly. Add eggs
and water. Beat for 2 more minutes, scraping bowl frequently.
Pour into pan(s). Bake 35-40 minutes. Let stand in pan(s) for 10
minutes, remove and cool on rack.
