Divinity

2 2/3 cup sugar
2/3 cup light Karo syrup
1/2 cup water

2 eggs whites , stiffly beaten

1 tsp vanilla
2/3 cup broken nuts (optional)

Mix sugar, syrup and water in a heavy saucepan. Stir over low heat
until sugar dissolves. Cook without stirring to 260 (hard ball
stage). Remove from heat and pour, beating constantly, in a fine
steam into the beaten egg whites. Add vanilla and continue beating
until mixture holds its shape and becomes slightly dull. Fold in
nuts. Drop quickly from a buttered spoon onto waxed paper into
individual peaks or spread in a buttered pan and cut into 1 inch
squares.

I searched for a divinity recipe and found this one very easy to understand and make. We used hickory nuts in it and it reminds me of my grandmother's recipe. Thanks for sharing.
