English Toffee

1 can sweetened condensed milk
2 cups firmly packed light brown sugar
1/2 cup light corn syrup
1/2 cup butter or margarine
1/8 teaspoon salt

In a heavy saucepan, combine milk, sugar and corn syrup. Cook over
medium heat, stirring constantly until mixture begins to boil.
Reduce heat to low. Cook, stirring constantly to 236 degrees on
candy thermometer or until a small amount dropped in cold water
forms a soft ball. Remove from heat; stir in butter or margarine
and salt. Pour into lightly buttered 8-inch square pan. Cool;
cut into squares.
