Easy Chili

1 lb. lean or extra lean ground beef
1 large onion, chopped
19-oz can Italian stewed tomatoes
1 can Heinz brown beans with pork and molasses
1 package chili powder mix
1 chopped red or green pepper (optional)
1 tbsp Canadian maple syrup (to taste)

Brown ground beef until completely cooked. Remove from pan and
drain off fat. (you can add some garlic or onion powder to the meat
while it is cooking.. optional)20

Add onion and pepper to pan and cook alone, covered for a few
minutes before re-adding cooked beef.

Add tomatoes and beans then mix together. Stir in chili packet
and cover and simmer. After a few minutes add the maple syrup,
(adds a great taste but can be left out if you want chili with
more bite) then cover and simmer for an hour or more.
