Ultimate Chocolate Chip Cookies
3/4 c butter flavor Crisco 1 1/4 c firmly packed light brown sugar 2 Tablespoons milk 1 Tablespoon vanilla 1 egg 1 3/4 c all purpose flour 1 teaspoon salt 3/4 teaspoon baking soda 12 oz bag of semi-sweet chocolate chips 1 cup coarsely chopped pecans (optional)
Heat oven to 375 degrees F.
Combine Crisco, light brown sugar, milk and vanilla in large bowl. Beat at medium speed of electric mixer until well blended. Beat egg into creamed mixture.
Combine flour, salt, and baking soda. Mix into creamed mixture just until blended. Stir in chocolate chips and pecan pieces.
Drop rounded tablespoonfuls of dough 3 inches apart onto ungreased baking sheet.
Bake one baking sheet at a time at 375 degrees F for 8 to 10 minutes for chewy cookies (cookies will appear moist-do not overbake) or 11-13 minutes for crisp cookies (We really like the chewy cookies--YUM!) Cool 2 minutes on baking sheet. Remove from baking sheet and ENJOY!
Makes about 3 dozen cookies

Easy, tasty cookies, November 21, 2004 - 06:59 PM

Very easy. Be careful not to overbake. Cookies only have small areas of browning when ready to remove from the oven. Otherwise they still look fairly raw, but they are done. Also, when I made them they only made about 20 cookies (2 1/2" diameter). Double batches work fine.
