Chocolate Chip-Studded Mini Meringues 4 egg whites pinch of salt 1 cup granulated sugar 1 1/2 tsp. vanilla or almond extract or combination of both 1/2 tsp. lemon juicee 6 oz. (1 cup) semisweet chocolate chips (or 3/4 cup mini chips, preferably) 1/2 cup powdered sugar Set rack in center of oven and preheat to 275F. Line a cookie sheet with aluminum foil, dull side up, (or baking parchment). In a medium bowl, beat whites till foamy, then add salt. Continue to beat till stiff peaks form, slowly adding sugar, extract, and lemon juice. Fold in chocolate chips. Drop batter onto cookie sheet by tablespoonfuls, spaced 2 inches apart. Sift powdered sugar over tops. Bake 35-40 minutes, until tops are barely pale and meringue surface is firm. Cool completely on a wire rack. Store in a tightly covered container at room temperature.

This recipe was much worse than I thought it would be. Before I loved every packaged or home made meringues I tried and this one made me gag. I made it twice and my parents said it tasted like sh*t when I told them that I made them myself. You should really add about 1/8t cream of tartar. Very dissapointing.
