Nut Horns 4 c. flour 1 tsp. salt 1 pkg. active dry yeast 1 1/4 c. shortening 3 egg yolks, beaten 3/4 c. sour cream 1 tsp. vanilla Sift flour and salt. Blend in yeast and shortening with pastry blender. Mix yolks, sour cream and vanilla. Add flour mixture and mix again. Divide dough into 8 parts. Roll each part into a ball. Wrap in waxed paper and chill thoroughly. Sprinkle board and roller with confectioners' sugar. Roll each ball in a 10- to 12-inch circle; cut in 12 wedges. Spread each wedge with 1 teaspoon of filling. Roll each wedge from wide end to point. Bake in hot oven, 400 degrees for 12 to 15 minutes until brown. NUT PASTE FILLING 3 egg whites 1 c. sugar 1 1/2 c. grated nuts 1 tsp. vanilla

This recipe was easier to make that I thought(and I'm a beginer). The cookie part was light and flaky and the nut filling melts in your mouth. I found it was easier to roll the "croissant" after I warmed the balls up in my hands. Everyone loved them and said it reminded them of something their grandma used to make. Thanks for a great recipe.
