3/4 cup butter
2 cups flour
1 cup brown sugar, packed
1/2 cup quick cooking rolled oats

6 cups peeled and chopped apples
1 cup granulated sugar
1 cup water
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 cup flour

Preheat oven to 350 F.

Place granulated sugar in small saucepan. Add water, vanilla,
cinnamon and flour. Cook over medium-low heat until thickened,
stirring while cooking with a fork or whisk. Pour mixture evenly
over apples.

Spread reserved 1 cup of sugar-oat mixture on top.

Bake in preheated oven about 45 minutes. When done, remove bars
form oven and set pan on a wire rack to cool.

Makes about 24 pieces. You can also try substituting 6 cups of
