APPLE PIE BARS
2 1/2 c. flour 1/2 tsp. salt 1 egg yolk plus milk to make 2/3 c. 1 c. butter 5 to 8 medium apples 1 1/3 c. sugar pinch of salt 1/4 tsp. cinnamon 4 Tbsp. flour
Blend flour, butter and salt. Put egg yolk in a measuring cup and fill with milk to measure 2/3 cup. Drop into flour mixture and mix well. Divide dough in half and roll out to fit cookie sheet or 10 1/2 x 15-inch pan. Save other half of dough for top crust. Peel, core and slice apples. Arrange in side by side rows in crust to make 1/2-inch layer. Pour sugar mixture over apples. Roll out and put on top crust, pinch and seal edges. Beat egg white until stiff and spread over the top of crust. Sprinkle 1 to 2 tablespoon sugar over the top of egg white. Bake at 450 degrees for 10 minutes. Reduce to 400 degrees and bake about 20 to 25 minutes or until golden brown. Cool and cut into bars.

I love baking and my husband is crazy for apple anything so when I saw this recipe I just had to try it. It was delicous and very appealing to the eye. I got rave reviews and just wanted to say thank you, I will add this to my regular baking list.
