Chocolate Layer Bars 2 cups (12 oz. package) Hershey's semi-sweet chocolate chips 8 oz. package cream cheese 2/3 cup (5 oz. can) evaporated milk 1 cup chopped walnuts 1/4 cup sesame seeds (optional) 1/2 teaspoon almond extract 3 cups all-purpose flour 1 1/2 cups sugar 1 teaspoon baking powder 1/2 teaspoon salt 1 cup (2 sticks) butter or margarine 2 eggs 1/2 teaspoon almond extract Heat oven to 375 F. Grease a 13x9 inch pan. In medium saucepan, combine chips, cream cheese and evaporated milk; cook over low heat, stirring constantly until chips are melted and mixture is blended. Remove from heat and stir in walnuts, sesame seeds (if desired) and almond extract. Blend well; set aside.
Stir together crust/topping ingredients; blend well until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Press half of crumb mixture into pan; spread with chocolate mixture. Sprinkle remaining crumbs over filling. Bake 35 to 40 minutes or until golden brown. Cool completely on wire rack. Cut into bars. Makes about 36 bars.
