Oatmeal Carmelitas

2 cups plus 6 T. flour, divided use
2 cups quick oats
1 1/2 cups brown sugar
1 t. baking soda
1 t. salt
1 1/2 cups melted butter or margarine
1 1/2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
1 cup chopped walnuts
12 ounce jar caramel topping

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Grease bottom and sides of a 13 inch
by 9 inch baking dish. Combine 2 cups flour, oats, brown sugar,
baking soda, salt and butter or margarine in a large bowl. Press
half the mixture into the bottom of baking dish. Bake for 10 minutes.

Sprinkle the chocolate chips and nuts over the crust. Mix the
caramel topping and the 6 T. flour well. Drizzle over the chocolate
chips and nuts. Sprinkle the other half of the oatmel mixture over
the caramel. Bake for an additional 20-22 minutes. Let cool before
slicing. Makes 80.
