Company Pot Roast

3 lb roast
2 tbsp cooking oil
2 onions, quartered
1 1/2 c water
1 cube beef bouillon
2 tbsp sugar
1 tsp cinnamon
1/3 c dry sherry, optional
1/4 c soy sauce
4 potatoes, peeled/halved
1 1/2 tbsp cornstarch
1/4 c cold water

Brown the roast in oil. Prepare in a crockpot by combining all
ingredients except cornstarch and water. Cook on medium for 6-8
hours. Immediately before serving, prepare gravy with cornstarch
and water.
