Dressing in the Crockpot
1 stick butter or margarine 2 cups chopped onion 2 cups chopped celery 1/4 cup fresh parsely, chopped 16 oz canned mushrooms, drained 12 cups bread cubes or crumbs, or more 1 tsp poultry seasoning 1 1/2 tsp salt 1 1/2 tsp ground sage 1 tsp dried thyme 1/2 tsp pepper 4 cup chicken or turkey broth 2 eggs, well beaten giblets, livers, optional
Spray cooker liner with non-stick spray, and spread oil or lard all over the pot before you start.
Place bread in the pot. Saute the onions in the butter, and pour over the cubes. Add all the other dry ingredients. Mix the eggs and broth, and pour over the whole thing. Mix slightly. Cover and cook on high for 45 minutes. Reduce heat to low, and cook for about 6 hours.
