Fig Ice Cream

1/2 cup milk
2 egg yolks, beaten
1 1/2 cups heavy cream
1 quart fresh figs
1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
1/2 cup sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

In top of double boiler, heat milk to a boil. Beating vigorously,
add beaten egg yolks to the hot milk. Cook mixture until thickened.
Cool. Whip heavy cream and fold it into the cooled custard. Peel
figs and puree in an electric blender, with the lemon juice, sugar
and vanilla. Add fig mixture to the custard-cream mixture.
Churn-freeze.
