Print this Recipe    Bread and Butter Pudding

5 slices of white bread
2 oz (50g) softened butter
2 oz (50g) sultanas
3 tablespoons of sugar
3 eggs
1 pint (600 ml) fresh milk

Butter bread liberally and cut in half diagonally. Butter an oven
proof deep oval dish. Layer bread in dish, sprinkling with sultanas
and sugar in between, reserving a little sugar for the top. Beat
eggs with milk and pour over bread and sultanas. Sprinkle remaining
sugar over the top. Bake in a preheated oven Gas 4 (350F/180C)
for 35 minutes, or until set and crunchy on top.
