In a separate bowl, mix together the sugar, cornstarch, salt, cocoa and 1/2 cup milk. Pour, stirring constantly, into hot milk mixture. Blend thoroughly. Cook for 5-10 minutes, stirring constantly, until thick. Remove from heat and add vanilla. Makes four servings.
