Chocolate Syrup

The other night I wanted to make some mocha but didn't have any chocolate syrup. So I made some. This is what I did.
1 cup Dutch process cocoa 2 cups sugar 1 1/2 cups hot water 2 teaspoons vanilla
Combine cocoa and sugar in a heavy saucepan. Slowly whisk in water. Heat to boiling and boil at least 2 minutes, stirring constantly. Watch as it's going to want to boil over. Take from heat, stir in vanilla. Cool. Strain into container (I used a mason jar).
Can't give you a recipe on the mocha. I tried varying ratios of coffee-brewed-so-dark-it-sucked-in-light, milk, sugar, chocolate syrup and ice, but didn't end up with anything truly satisfactory (although I did get extremely wired).
