Thai Iced Tea (for two)
2 tsp Thai tea (purchase at a Southeast Asian grocery store) 2 cups water 1 can condensed milk sugar to taste
Brew tea very strong- until it is almost syrupy. Cool. Place in a glass with 1/4 cup condensed milk and 4-5 ice cubes. Sugar if you feel it is necessary (condensed milk is very sweet) Stir and serve.
I have not experimented using other teas, but one can identify the tea used in Thai iced tea by its distinctive smell, almost like bamboo and the intensely orange color of the resultant brew. It is possible that a darjeeling might be similar and substituted, although of course not nearly as good as the real thing.
