Spiced Beer Cake
850 ml wheat flour 350 ml brown sugar 1 tsp ground cinnamon 1 tsp ground ginger 1 tsp ground cloves 1 tsp baking soda 1 pinch allspice 1 pinch salt 1 dark beer (330 ml / 33 cl)
Dissolve sugar in beer. Sift flour, spices and baking soda into beer and mix until smooth. Pour into greased baking tin and bake at 190C (3740F) for 45-60 minutes.
Slice thinly and serve with cold butter on top.
Also great for cake-mix: Mix everything except beer and put into a plastic bag labeled: Beer Cake: add 1 beer, bake.
