Soup/Stew Dumplings

1 1/2 c. flour
2 tsp. baking powder
3/4 c. milk (I use lowfat)
3 Tbs. shortening
3/4 tsp. salt

Mix together flour, salt and baking powder. Cut shortening into
flour mixture until mixture resembles crumbs. Blend in milk until
you have a moist batter. Drop by teaspoonfuls into bubbling soups
and stews. Simmer covered 10 minutes; remove lid and simmer 10
minutes more. Remove dumplings with a slotted spoon to a large
serving bowl. Serve in individual bowls with soup or stew ladeled
on the top of the dumplings. You can add some minced parsley to
the dough, if you want.
