Apple Strudel (serves 6-8)
6 apples (MacIntosh or Cortland) 1/3 package puff dough or phyllo dough 2 Tbsp. dry red gelatin raisins (optional) 1/2 cup sugar 1 Tbsp. cinnamon 1 Tbsp. lemon juice
use approx. 9" x 12" cookie sheet
Roll dough on floured as thin as possible and set aside. Wash, peel, and slice apples. Pour lemon juice over the apples to keep the apples from turning brown. Mix with cinnamon and sugar. Spread the apple mixture, cherries, and rasins onto the dough. Sprinkle gelatin powder and roll into a log about 3" in diameter. Place on cookie sheet.
Bake at 350 for 30-40 minutes or until golden brown.
Allow to cool. Slice into 3" pieces on the diagonal and sprinkle with icing sugar before serving.
