Hi there,
I grew up in Germany and the real McCoy is called Bienenstich. It is a yeast dough in a jelly roll pan, topped with slivered almonds and baked afterwards. After it cools down, you cut it accross once and fill with homemade vanilla cream.
There is no coconut in the real receipe
