Chocolate Cherry Cake

200 gr butter, room temperature
5 eggs
200 gr sugar
200 gr flour
100 gr ground hazelnuts
2 tsp baking powder
1 tsp cinnamon
1/2 cup less 1 Tbsp milk
150 gr semi sweet chocolate
500 gr cherries (drained), canned (or fresh, pitted)
Confectioners sugar for garnish

Cream butter until light and foamy, add sugar, and eggs, one at a
time, until creamy and smooth. Mix flour, ground hazelnuts, baking
powder and cinnamon; add to butter mixture alternating with milk.
Preheat oven to 350F; grease a spring form 10 or 11" in dia. and
sprinkle evenly with flour. Chop chocolate. Fold chocolate and
one half of the cherries into the dough. Fill spring form, level
top of dough with spatula. Bake 20 minutes. Remove from oven and
distribute remaining half of cherries on top of cake. Return to
oven and bake a further 40-50 minutes. Knife inserted into cake
should come out clean. If necessary bake another 5 -10 minutes.
Cool on rack. When fully cooled, loosen cake by going around rim
of spring form. Serve sprinkled with confectioners sugar.
