Drowned Maidens

3 Tbls margerine
1/3 cup sugar
6 eggs, separated
2/3 cup sifted flour
1/2 tsp salt
oil for deep frying
icing sugar

Cream the margerine, then gradually beat in the sugar until well
blended. Beat in the egg yolks until smooth and thick.

Blend in the flour and salt gently to form a smooth batter. Beat
egg whites until stiff but not dry; fold into batter.

Drop batter by spoonfuls into hot grease (400F). Fry until golden
brown, about 1-2 mins on each side, turning once, Drain on paper
towels.

Sprinkle with icing sugar; serve immediately.
