Print this Recipe    Hot Bacon Dressing

1/4 pound bacon (6-7 strips)
1 teaspoon chicken soup base
1/2 cup chopped onion
1/2 teaspoon white pepper
3 cups water
1 1/2 cups sugar
3/4 cup vinegar
1/8 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup flour

Combine water, sugar, vinegar, salt, soup base and pepper. Heat
to boilong. Chop bacon and fry until brown. Skim out bacon with
slotted spoon into water mixture. Fry onions in bacon fat until
soft but not brown. Add flour to the onions; let it bubble up for
2 to 3 minutes. Add this onion mixture into the hot water mixture.
Stir until smooth. Simmer for 5 minutes.

Serve over letttuce, green or wax beans. Also use as a sauce in
german potato salad. Taste and adjust seasonings if necessary.
