Soft Pretzels

4 cup flour
1 pkg yeast
2 Tbsp. sugar
1 1/2 tsp. salt
1 cup milk
1/2 cup water
2 Tbsp.oil
1 egg slightly beaten with 1 tablespoon of water

Set aside 1 cup of the flour. In a large bowl, mix remaining flour,
undissolved yeast and salt together. Heat the milk, oil and water
until just hot about 130. Stir into flour mixture. Mix in enough
additional flour to make a soft dough. Knead the dough on lightly
floured board until smooth and elastic, about 5 minutes. Cover and
let rise for 10 minutes Divide the dough into 24 pieces. Roll each
piece into a 16 inch rope. To make pretzels curve the ends of each
rope to make a circle; cross ends at top. Twist ends once and lay
down over the bottom circle. Place the pretzels on greased baking
sheet/ Cover and let rest in warm area for 10 minutes. Brush with
beaten egg mixture sprinkle with salt and bake. Bake at 350 for
35 minutes or until done. Cool on wire rack.
