Christmas Sister-in-Law Cookies

Sister-in-Law Cookies
1/2 C. butter (no oleo)
1/2 C. shortening (lard or Crisco)
1 C. sugar
1/2 C. brown sugar
1 egg
2 C. sifted flour
2 tsp. baking soda
2 tsp. cream of tartar
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla
Cream butter, shortening, sugars and egg. Add remaining ingredients.
Roll dough into small balls and roll in granulated sugar. Bake on
a greased cookie sheet for 12-15 minutes at 375 deg., or 8-10
minutes if your oven runs hot. Cool on rack.
