Indian Peas Rice

1 cup long grain rice
2 cups water
1 cup shelled peas
1 cinnamon stick
5 cloves
5 cardamom
few bay leaves
1 tsp cumin seed
5 tblsp oil
2 onions
2 tsp garlic paste
cashews and raisins for garnish

Wash the rice and soak for 10 minutes. Heat the oil and put in the
cardamom, cumin seeds, cinnamon, bay leaves and cloves and stir.
Add the chopped onions and stir till it is transparent. Add the
ginger garlic paste and stir for 1 minute. Now add the green peas
and stir the rice for 2 minutes. Now add the 2 cups of water and
1 tsp of salt. You can add chopped parsley for added flavour. Cover
the lid and let it cook on a low flame till done. Garnish with
fried cashews and raisins if required.
