Italian Vegetable Soup

1 lb. ground beef
1 c diced onion
1 c diced celery
1 c diced carrot
2 garlic cloves - minced
1 lg can Tomato sauce (15 oz)
1 can (15 oz) red kidney beans (undrained)
1 can (14 1/2+ oz.)diced tomatoes, undrained (or may use crushed tomatoes)2 cups water
5 tsp beef bouillon granules
1 Tbsp dried parsley flakes
1 tsp salt (optional)
1/2 tsp dried oregano
1/2 tsp dried basil
1/4 tsp pepper
2 cups shredded cabbage
1 cup fresh or frozen green beans cut into bitesize 1 inch pieces
1/2 cup small elbow marcaroni
Parmesan cheese (fresly grated, or from prepackaged shaker, or bag - optional)
In large pot, or soup kettle, cook beef until no longer pink, drain.
Add the next 14 ingredients (Everythingbefore the cabbage). Bring to boil, and simmer for 20 minutes.
Add cabbage, green beans, and macaroni, and bring toboil.
Reduce heat and simmer until vegetables are tender.
Serve. Garnish with parmesan cheeseif desired.
Servings: about 12

I helped make this for my daughters school project.(long story). And she came home and she said her teachers were going to fail her if she didn't bring in the recipe. It was that delicious! I highly recommend this soup.
