corn or flour tortillas
cooking oil or shortening
paper toweling

Stack tortillas and cut the stack into 6 wedges. In a heavy skillet
or saucepan heat 1/2 inch cooking oil or shortening. Fry the tortilla
wedges, a few at a time about 1 minute for corn tortillas (45
seconds for flour tortillas) or till they are crisp and lightly
browned. Drain well on paper toweling . If desired, sprinkle the
chips lightly with salt or other seasonings or spicy mixtures
