Couscous

1 1/3 tablespoons slivered almonds, or pine nuts
1 teaspoon olive oil
1/3 onion, finely chopped
1 1/3 cloves garlic, minced
1/2 cup chicken stock, or water
1 teaspoon butter
1/2 teaspoon garam masala
1/3 teaspoon red pepper flakes
2/3 green onion, chopped
1/3 cup couscous

Saute nuts in olive oil until they begin to turn color. Reserve
Saute onion and garlic in remainder of olive oil until golden.
Add chicken broth and butter. Bring to a rapid boil. Add remaining
ingredients, including nuts. Cover, remove from heat and let stand
for 5 minutes. Fluff with a fork before serving
